Craig Carroll
Passionate about education, financial services and technologies that promote increased access to education, capital and economic wellbeing for people of all backgrounds. After a 5-year stint as a Management Consultant with Bain & Co, Craig has been focused on creating, building and managing teams, raising capital, product development, software development, corporate strategy and general management across a variety of sectors (financial services, education, technology and software-as-a-service). Extensive experience developing services that help individuals deal with financial matters and in advising educational institutions on tuition optimisation, enrollment strategies and educational accessibility. Throughout his career, Craig has been an investor in, and advisor to, various early-stage and growth companies. Graduated from University of Sydney and Harvard Business School.
As a Founder and entrepreneur, Craig has been involved in the creation and subsequent sale of a number of start-ups in the United States. These have included:
- eGrad, a student loan company that supported young Americans pursuing a post-secondary education. The company successfully originated more than USD$1.2 billion of loans in its first 3 years. It was sold to J.P.Morgan Chase’s Collegiate Funding Services.
- College Publisher / Youth Media & Marketing Networks (Y2M) was the first multi-media digital marketing network targeting young, university-educated adults in the U.S. The business operated on more than 600 American college campuses and represented Ford, Citibank, Amex, Facebook, Goldman Sacs and a variety of other advertisers. It was ultimately sold to Viacom and operated as a part of that company's MTVu division.
- Cegment Inc. provided tuition management technology and enrollment services to 330 educational institutions in 49 states of the U.S. and supported the issuance of more than $1.7 billion in financial support to students. The company also helped families and students to meet the financial obligations of university while by performing 1.2 million financial assessments on families annually. The company was sold to CampusLogic.
